Kick off Ceremony at the Montrose Gazebo
 
  Earth Day Poster Contest
50 children participated in the Town of Cortlandt Earth Day Contest. The Green Team chose 10 winners who were presented awards and prizes at the Town board meeting on April 20th. Thanks to all who participated!
 
  6th Street Volunteer Tree Replanting Project
On 10/11/08 The Verplanck Street Tree Planting project was held. Special thanks to Volunteers Jim O’Brien, Bobby Morrison, Frank Ramundo, Mike Ruh, Holly Haight, Dennis Lasher, Jo-Ann Dyckman, Frank Farrell, Fred Pardee for helping to plant the 14 "Wire Friendly Trees" This event would not be possible without the support from Kathleen Burleson and help from her excellent staff, most notably; Ed Longin, John Gilbert, and Steve Clausen in the preparation of the site; (tree removal, stump grinding and hole digging). Funding was provided by a NYS DEC Urban Forestry Grant.

  Town's New Hybrid Cars
The town has recently purchased two hybrid SUVs made by Ford. These Hybrids will be driven by John Palmiotto, Superintendent of Recreation and Jeff Tkacs, Coordinator of Homeland Security. The Ford Escape Hybrid, is the first vehicle to combine SUV capability with the outstanding fuel economy and low environmental impact of a full hybrid. The etimated mileage is approximately 36 City / 31 Hwy.

  Enchanted Movie Night
On Thursday, August 14th 2008 the Recreation Division presented a special outdoor movie night for the residents of Cortlandt Manor. Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle were all on hand for an outdoor screening of Walt Disney's "Enchanted". Children came dressed to impress in their best princess and prince outfits for the special event. Free popcorn, beverages, and prizes were provided for all. It truly was an Enchanted evening
