An ad hoc, volunteer Task Force from the community was created to oversee the design and construction of the Memorial as well as all fundraising efforts. The Task Force consists of approximately 20 people and meets on a regular basis. The Task Force is organized into four working committees: Fundraising; Design, Public Relations; and Engineering/Construction. Task Force members have experience in a number of disciplines such as community planning, landscape architect, engineering, construction, public relations, fundraising, budgeting, historical knowledge and sculpturing/welding .
