OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE
The Town of Cortlandt Open Space Committee was formed in 2003 by Resolution of the Town Board. The Open Space Committee was charged with completing an Open Space Report for the Town which would identify and evaluate the remaining open space in the Town, prioritize parcels of land having preservation value and investigate cost effective and efficient means of conserving appropriate open space. The Committee completed the Open Space Report in May 2004.
Since 2004 the Open Space Committee has continued to meet regularly. The Committee advises the Town Board on various issues affecting open space. The Committee has worked with Town staff to improve the method by which conservation easements are obtained, tracked and monitored. In addition the Open Space Committee advises the Planning Board and Town Board on the effect of development applications on significant open space parcels and makes recommendations for the possible acquisition of open space.
The Committee typically meets the 1st Thursday of each month in the Planning Division. The members of the Committee are:
David Douglas, Chair
Karen Jescavge-Bernard
