February at the YC

Exciting courses, classes and programs are happening in February at the YC for youth of ALL ages! Parents this is a must read.

Exciting things are happening at the YC this February!
All programs below are for Youth in Grades 6th – 12th unless otherwise noted. All programs below are free unless otherwise noted. All programs are at the Youth Center unless otherwise noted.

Youth in Grades 6th – 12th Drop-off Program
Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
*Saturday: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
For Youth in Grades 1st – 5th with Parent/Adult Supervision
*Saturday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Rock Wall Hours: Sunday 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Reoccurring Weekly Programs
Weight Room Workout: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:00 PM

 

Open Gym at Hendrick-Hudson High School (for Hen-Hud students only)
Mondays 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
No program when school is closed
Must be a registered participant of the YC

 

Canteen, an open gym program at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Fridays 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Open to all Croton, Hendrick Hudson and Lakeland middle and high school students who are town residents.
Must register at the Canteen to participate

 

The Game Café at the C.U.E. for High School Student Only
3131 Main Street, Mohegan Lake, in the Cortlandt Town Center, behind the movie theater
*New improvements have been made. High schoolers can enjoy Wi-Fi, cable TV, Xbox, Nintendo switch, playing pool and ping pong or just hanging out. They can also purchase snacks and hot beverages for less than $5!
Must show School ID to get in and complete a short registration form
Friday, February 1 & 8 FREE Pizza Night at the Game Café. Pizza will be ordered at 8 pm so participants must arrive early!
 
February 1 & 2
YC Got Talent! Friday, February 1st at 8 PM; please register by 7 PM. A great time for youth to showcase their talent.

 

Seaplane 500 Saturday, February 2 from 2 PM – 4 PM. Join the Cortlandt Community Rowing Association as they demonstrate and teach how to use a rowing machine. Then participants can compete in a friendly 500 meter race. Light refreshments will be served. For youth ages 11 – adult. It’s a great family event!

February 3-9
Monday, February 4: Art Classes begin. Grades K – 6th. Click on the calendar of events link below for more information.

 

Tuesday, February 5: 5th Grade Fun Club for Hen-Hud 5th graders begins. Click on the calendar of events link below for more information.
 

Wednesday, February 5: Cooking Classes begin. PreK & Grades 1st – 4th. Click on the calendar of events link below for more information.
 

Friday, February 8th DJ Night at the YC from 7 PM to 10 PM.
 

Saturday, February 9th  Home Alone Course (Grades 5th – 8th) This program will provide each child with the essentials needed when they are home without adult supervision. Discussion will cover first aid, telephone and door answering, activity plans, encountering emergencies and more! Limited spaces available. Call Jamie at 914-736-0498 to register your child.
 

February 10-16
Valentine’s Cookie Decorating, Sunday, February 10th from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. For Grades 1st-5th and parents. Parents and kids are invited to join us in our kitchen to decorate Valentine’s Day cookies.

 

Karaoke Night- Friday, February 15 from 7 PM-9 PM
 

Triple M: Movie Madness Marathon, Saturday, February 16th from 5 PM to 10 PM featuring Space Themed Movies. Fee: $6
It’s cold out there and what’s better to do on a cold winter’s eve than watch a marathon of your favorite movies in your PJ’S? Join us for an evening of movies, laughter and treats! Dinner and popcorn will be provided. Bring your own blanket to curl up under.

 

February 17-23
Monday – Friday, February 18 – 22: Young Rembrandt’s Cartoon Workshop featuring Princesses, knights, castles & dragons! From 9 AM – 3 PM for youth in Grades 1st – 6th.

Tuesday, February 19 School’s closed but the Youth Center is open from 1:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Join us at 4:30 PM for Diva Facial Day!
 

Wednesday, February 20 School’s closed but the Youth Center is open from 1:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Join us at 4:30 PM for Battleship Encounter! …We will also be taking a group to Grand Central Station

Join us at 5 PM in the weight room.

 

Friday, February 22 GAME NIGHT at 8 PM. Join us as we recreate and play a classic TV game show along with some other creative fun!
 

Saturday, February 23 Jr. Chopped Competition at the YC! Challenge: Nachos! Cooking time slots from 2 PM to 6 PM, grab a partner and sign up to show off your cooking skills in this safe & fun cooking competition. Judging at 7 PM. Judges will be looking at appearance, creativity and flavor as they taste your creation. Participants must register two weeks prior for official rules. Participants will be responsible for bringing all of their ingredients.
