A Message from Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi, 5/16/2020

Release Date: May 16, 2020

May 16, 2020

Hello everyone this is Linda Puglisi. Once again, thanking you for allowing me to give you messages during this very difficult time. I hope you and your families are well. Today I’d like to give you some information I’ve learned about from the State and County governments, regarding  a phase reopening. These are health guidelines set by the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, and other guidelines established by the New York State Governor. The opening will be in four phases beginning with construction and manufacturing and some major retailers with curbside pick up only. Phases two and three will include professional services, restaurants, smaller businesses, etc. And the fourth phase will be entertainment, such as movie theaters, sports arenas, concert halls and others. So at least there is a plan in place and some progress. The charts we can view indicate a slow decline on the key numbers that will allow for the opening in phases. In the meantime,  please continue to social distance, stay home whenever possible, wash hands repeatedly, and it’s so important to wear facemasks when out in public. These measures have definitely helped to mitigate the virus spread, however we can’t relax now. I thank you all for your patience and cooperation, please go to our various websites and Facebook including our COVID-19 website for important up to the date information. The New York City and Westchester area has been hit hard by this pandemic, so we need to remain aware, vigilant and cautious to stop the spread. After two long months, we are going in the right direction, but together let’s continue to fight this virus, so we can go back to our lives that we cherish. Yes the phasing steps will take a while longer, but there is a light at the end of this period. The Town Board and I will be making the decision on opening or not summer camps and the Town pool very soon. Some in the area have already closed. Remember the decision will be based on safety for our children in those settings. My love as always to our Cortlandt community and to all of you. Stay safe, thank you.
