Town of Cortlandt Goals

Release Date: September 08, 2020

Goals for 2nd half of 2020

Supervisor Linda Puglisi and Town Board

September 2020

  1. Complete the new Bathhouse construction at our Charles Cook Pool.

  1. Begin the new Snack bar at Cook Pool, as well.

  1. Continue to practice health and safety measures for our employees and the public during COVID 19.  Everyone please stay well, stay safe by wearing masks.

  1. Continue our excellent financial record and at the same time continue to be cautious and fiscally conservative.  This has been our practice all along especially since the recession of 2008/2009 and has led to the town having good amounts of fund balances and reserves in our treasury.

  1. Continue the discussions on various economic growth projects proposed in our town.

  1. Construct the new hangar for CCRA (Cortlandt Community Rowing Association) paid for by the Town of Cortlandt and voted on by the town board at our Cortlandt Waterfront Park near the Hudson River.

  1. Complete plans for the Discovery Center at Cortlandt Waterfront Park.

  1. Remain on top of the Lake Meahagh situation so it doesn’t repeat in the future with algae, (etc.) issues.

  1. Seek grants for more sidewalks along the Kings Ferry Road/Trolley Road area in Montrose and also for sidewalks on one side of West Brook Drive and Oregon Road in northern Cortlandt.

  1. Consider holding our events in 2020 or not due to COVID 19 (Cortlandt Family Fun Day, Community Swap, Halloween events, 5k Run, Winter Wonderland, Veterans Day Ceremony, Holiday Party, etc.) Some may be done virtually due to safety restrictions. Our 9/11 Ceremony with Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson Villages will go forward virtually.

  1. Our next phase of Veteran Banners.  This first endeavor has been very successful.  View them (35) on Albany Post Road to honor our Veterans.

  1. Work with new entrepreneurs wanting to locate in the Town as a result of our Branding Kick-off – “Where Life Works” at the right locations.

  1. Always consider more sustainable projects (i.e. HVAC at the Town Hall and solar projects).

  1. To monitor with the Village of Buchanan the closure of Indian Point and the decommissioning in the future of these nuclear plants.

  1. And of course consider other ideas and needs for the town and community as we proceed.
