A Message from Supervisor Linda Puglisi

Release Date: September 27, 2021

Hello, I am Linda Puglisi, Supervisor of the Town of Cortlandt.

Over the past year and a half, we have been through a great deal: the pandemic, hurricanes and their aftermath, the closure of Indian Point’s nuclear plants, the 20th Anniversary of that tragic day on 9/11/2001.  Our community lost nine wonderful people.

As always, we are grateful for the first and second responders who rushed down to Ground Zero to help, just as they do during our severe weather events or other disasters and during this pandemic. They are all Heros!

I hope you are all doing well and enjoyed the summer season.  The town dedicated a new bathhouse, snack bar, refurbished tennis courts and a new basketball court all at our lovely town pool campus where we hire many Cortlandt youth for the summer.

Speaking of our children they are now back into school.  So please drive carefully so we can all protect them. I put together a group of articles telling the key highlights of what we have accomplished over the past 30 years in our Recreation brochure. I hope you enjoy reading about our years together.

The Town Board and I have been working on important projects and issues and studying key areas for furthering economic growth in our town.

I am working to prepare the budget for 2022, with our town comptroller.  I have completed 30 years of budgets as Supervisor and I am proud of the following facts:

On average only a 1% town tax increase, low town debt, met the New York State tax cap every year, filled vacant positions, purchased new vehicles and equipment and at the same time more than tripled our fund balance (the town’s saving account) over the years, and will continue this fiscal responsibility for this budget, as well.  The next Town Supervisor will implement this budget and/or make changes.

So, I am pleased to tell you I leave the town in excellent financial shape when I retire at the end of December 2021.

I wish you and your family all the best and much happiness.  It has been an honor to serve this great Town for 30 years.  I love Cortlandt and all of you. Thank you.
