Economic Profile
The Town of Cortlandt is located in the northwest corner of Westchester County and is bounded by the Hudson River to the west, the Towns of Philipstown and Putnam Valley to the north, the Town of Yorktown to the east and the Towns of Ossining and New Castle to the south.  The Town of Cortlandt includes the Villages of Croton-on-Hudson and Buchanan as well as the hamlets of Verplanck, Montrose, Crugers.  The Town is served by the Cortlandt Metro-North Station that provides convenient service into New York City.  Metro-North just completed a $34.7 million dollar expansion and upgrade of the station which now has over 1,600 parking spaces.
New York State Route 6, known as Cortlandt Boulevard, is the main commercial center in the Town and is anchored by the Cortlandt Town Center Shopping Center as well as several other large retail establishments such as Kohl’s Department Store and Shoprite.  Construction has recently been completed on the new Curry Hyundai Dealership as well as the new Big Lots Store.  Construction continues on the new Curry Toyota/Subaru Building.  The Town’s many hamlets are also centers of economic development.  The hamlet centers of Montrose, Crugers and Verplanck are home to several small businesses and family run establishments which provide convenience to local residents as well as employment opportunities.
Economic Development efforts in the Town are coordinated by the Town Supervisor and Town Board.  The Town of Cortlandt also has a professionally staffed Department of Technical Services that provides Engineering, Planning and Building assistance to residents and applicants.
