The Tax Office handles the billing and collection of property taxes for more than 15,000 parcels of land. In addition to collecting Town taxes, the Tax Office is responsible for collecting real property taxes for Westchester County, 5 school districts, and numerous special districts such as fire, park, ambulance, and sewer districts. The Town taxes are set by the Town; the other taxes are determined and levied by the individual governing bodies and districts.
BILLING SCHEDULE
- The General Tax bill is mailed March 31 and due by April 30.
- The School Tax bill is mailed August 31.
- The first half is due September 30.
- The second half is due January 31.
TAX PAYMENT OPTIONS
ON-LINE PAYMENT: (click here). As a convenience to the taxpayer, the Town Of Cortlandt is now offering you the ability to pay your property taxes with either an electronic check or a credit card. You may pay with Visa or Master Card. Please note there is a service fee (1.81%) if you choose to pay by credit card. New York State law mandates that the Town receives no portion of the fee and that the fee is retained by the payment processing vendors enabling the transaction. On-line payments are available year round.
PAYMENT IN PERSON: You are always welcome to come to the Tax Office and pay in person. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4 PM, as well as the last Saturday in April and September from 9 AM to noon.
PAYMENT BY MAIL: Payments may be mailed to the Receiver of Taxes at the Town Of Cortlandt, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. Please be sure to witness a timely United States post mark dated no later than the due date. Payments without a post mark arriving after the due date are deemed to have been made on the date they are received and subject to penalty by State law.
