Currently on display at Town Hall Art IRL!, is an exploration of works by artists who use digital tools in their creative process or who create works that solely exist in the digital realm. Kara Wilson’s works require a fascinating blend of human, digital, and mechanical processes to produce, extending the creative possibilities beyond the capacity of the human hand. This blend of processes results in works that appear mechanically flawless with the first viewing, but in spending additional time with her works all of the distinct variations and fluctuations introduced by the human hand in the screen-printing process are revealed. This final human touch in the execution of her works supplies a warmth balancing her flat graphic compositions.

Kara Wilson is Croton-on-Hudson resident, a professional creative director, and visual artist, working in screenprinting. Kara’s work explores the abstraction of portraiture and landscape, expressed through layers of deconstructed geometric shapes. Her process begins with hand-drawn sketches, then digital renderings, using the software, Adobe Illustrator. The preparation of each screen also involves the use of digital tools, but her ultimate aim is to bring her visions into real life.
