Art IRL! Artist of the Week: Hanneke
Currently on display at Town Hall Art IRL!, is an exploration of works by artists who use digital tools in their creative process or who create works that solely exist in the digital realm. Hanneke used both software and machines to produce a final work. Assembled by hand, Hanneke’s work reduces the landscape to flat abstract planes of color. It is only through the careful layering and the juxtapositions of shifting color values that the forms depicted in the image regain their volume creating space within the image.
Hanneke is a local artist who loves to try out new techniques. Starting on the small canvas of handmade greeting cards twenty years ago, her artistic and creative endeavors have continued to grow. From alcohol ink art, to three-dimensional paper designs, to woodworking, she loves to express herself and share work with others! This original design was inspired by Long Point Light Station in Provincetown, MA. Hanneke drew and vectorized each of the 10 layers using a vector graphics program, cut out the design with a cutting machine, and assembled it by hand.
