Port (Cortlandt) is a private project and the consultant for this private endeavor is AKRF, Inc. They are not retained by the Town for Port (Cortlandt) and it is not a Town of Cortlandt project; however, the Town does own the 99 acres formerly owned by Con Edison.

The Town purchased this property five years ago from Con Ed, primarily to have riverfront property to be used for recreational or for other municipal purposes.  NYSERDA from the state government is encouraging green industries (sustainable) and will grant funding to private companies. There are a few sites along the Hudson River that are being considered for this project, our property in Verplanck/Cortlandt is one of them.

Myself and others on the Town Board have raised many concerns and issues regarding this proposal.  We will continue to keep the best interest of the residents and their comments in mind as we proceed as we always have done in the past.
