Recently, in conjunction with the other municipal members of the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works, the Town approved a water billing software upgrade.  The upgrade has modernized the issuance of the bill and now provides an online user interface.

Notice of Delinquent Water and Sewer Bills to be Re-levied on Property Tax Warrant- April 2022

                   In conformance with all applicable statutes, rules, and regulations, the Town of Cortlandt will be re-levying all unpaid water and sewer balances on its upcoming tax bills. If any consumers believe that they qualify for a Deferred Payment Agreement pursuant to statutes and regulations pertaining to the COVID-19 Pandemic, then they can send inquiries to The Northern Westchester Joint Water Works @

Residents are now able to use the internet to access their water billing account for billing details such as account balance, due dates and water usage. A user name and /or PIN are NOT required as the online system cannot process account changes such as mailing address or property owner.

Electronic payment of your bill can be made via credit card or electronic check through the new website portal. A convenience fee for these transactions apply. Your private information for your payment is not stored in the database. 

As a reminder, in the interest of paper conservation, residents may receive their bill electronically via email by making a request to, with the following information included:

  • Name of requester
  • Property location
  • New water billing account number
  • Email address that will receive the electronic bill

Your billing account number has changed. In order to properly credit your account, please be sure to update all of your records. If using your bank’s online bill pay system, the payment details section needs to be changed to the new account number that begins with two zeros. This will help avoid your payment being rejected and/or a delay in posting it to your account.
