Jim Martin Aviation Playground
Supervisor Dr. Richard Becker and Town Board welcomed all children to the newly renovated Jim Martin Aviation Playground at Cortlandt Waterfront Park on July 14, 2024. The land was previously owned by aviation enthusiast Jim Martin who owned the 6-acre seaplane aircraft base and other waterfront property. At one point, the seaplane landing averaged 85 aircraft operations per month! He donated 26 acres to the Town in 1991. The former Martin trailer parkland was deeded to the town in a negotiated life estate agreement in the early 1990’s. After Mr. Jim Martin passed away and after allowing the mobile homes to remain for an additional ten years, the entire property is now a town park.
