Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) Program

The Goal of the TNR Program is to effectively and humanely control our community’s feral and stray cat population.
Cats can start producing kittens at around 4 months of age. One female cat and her offspring can produce between 100 and 400 cats in 7 years. The TNR Program benefits the cats as well as the neighborhood by trapping feral cats, testing for FIV/Felv, vaccinating for Rabies, spaying/neutering them as well as tipping their ears (the universal symbol of a neutered and vaccinated cat). Once neutered or spayed, the cats will no longer reproduce. This also helps to stop the disruptive behavior of the male cats.
The feral and stray cats are then released back to the area where they were trapped.
What to do:
Please do not attempt to capture these cats on your own. Please don’t wait until you see kittens.
Contact your local Animal Warden at 914-734-1010.
Let us know if and where you’ve been feeding them as this will help us to be more successful knowing where they spend their time.
Please be assured we will do everything to treat these cats humanely and there are no penalties for feeding. We appreciate the collaboration of those interacting with these feral cat communities.
